Who remembers the iconic bar of chocolate with 5 boys anxiously awaiting a piece of chocolate? Five little lads all hoping for a treat. I was thinking how the chocolate bar reminded me in some way of five stages in the writing process.
Desperation. Pacification. Expectation. Acclamation. Realisation.
I can relate to that in my writing:
Desperation to complete the book with plot, characters and prose in place. Plot comes first, followed by introduction of the main characters then when that it done, concentrate on prose.
Pacification when the writing is done to my satisfaction after several reads and cups of tea.
Expectation that the edit will not throw up too many corrections and makes sense to the professional editor.
Acclamation when the book is in the hands of the publisher for fine tuning: suitable cover, e-book conversion, back page blurb, spine and typeset. Not long to go!
And Realisation. The book is in my hands!
Delighted to announce that my latest work BEFORE LUCY is at the Acclamation stage and is very near to Realisation.
