Terry’s Blog

Welcome to my blog. A place for me to share my thoughts, ramblings and pearls of wisdom.

FINAL BLOG OF 2017

2017 is drawing to a close and I reflect on a year that seems to have flown by.

With the help of Indie Authors World my publishing has been prolific.

THE LECI LEGACY arrived in 2017 to complete THE LUCY TRILOGY. Had someone said that my fist attempt at writing, CALL MAMA would grow arms and legs and become a trilogy, I would not have believed them . However, it did, and developed into a three-part crime thriller that took me by surprise. The characters became alive to me, I cared about them and wanted my readers to feel an affinity with them, caring about Lucy's plight, engaging with her fraught mother, willing Tony and Carole to solve the mysterious happenings both here and in USA and to ensure the villains got their just reward. I moved CALL MAMA from my original publisher to join my 2017 books in order to have ease of access. My compilation of short stories, A TALE OR TWO AND A FEW MORE was given a make over and also joined Indie Authors family.

Also published in 2017 was A CASE FOR JULIE, a cosy crime novella about a village sleuth. This will be followed in 2018 by A BREAK FOR JULIE and A LETTER FOR JULIE, thus completing a novella trilogy.

My big plan for 2018 is to pick up on the detective in the Lucy trilogy, Tony Harvey and write a full length novel about his life 'BEFORE LUCY'.

2017 also saw me involved in leading a creative workshop in Bellshill Cultural centre; organising a local author event in Summerlee Heritage centre to mark Book Week Scotland, where twelve local writers gathered together to share their work and meet the public.

I attended a talk in Airdrie library to listen and learn from Lin Anderson, a crime writer whose books I enjoy. Later, I was at Motherwell library where Val McDermid gave an inspiring talk.

My future events so far for 2018 will involve a talk at Chryston cultural centre and a possible, similar event in Oban.

Whatever you do, be it writing or reading, I wish you every success in your 2018 ventures.
